Background: Cirrhosis of the liver
is a progressive chronic illness that leads to significant morbidity and
reduced quality of life. Fatigue is among the most distressing symptoms, while
inadequate patient knowledge often hampers effective management. Nursing Care
Pathways (NCPs) provide structured, evidence-based interventions for improving
patient outcomes.
Aim: To evaluate the
effectiveness of a Nursing Care Pathway on knowledge and fatigue among patients
with cirrhosis of liver admitted in selected hospitals at Erode.
Methodology: An evaluative research
approach with pre-test–post-test design was used. The sample included cirrhotic
patients admitted under spinal anesthesia. Tools consisted of (i) Demographic
data, (ii) Knowledge assessment questionnaire, and (iii) Modified Fatigue
Impact Scale (MFIS). Validity and reliability were established (r = 0.94).
Ethical approval and informed consent were obtained. Nursing Care Pathway was
implemented through structured teaching sessions for the experimental group.
Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
